CONDITION OF COVERS Covers are in Good-/+ condition. Dented corners, some discoloration, tape strip on back of each
STANDARD FOR GRADING: Goldmine Standard for grading which is detailed in their annual price-guides and here: Poor/Fair (warped, skips, maybe even cracked)-For what it's worth I never sell a record in this condition.
Good/Good Plus-can be placed on a turntable and will play through without skipping but will have significant surface noise and visible scuff or scratches.
The cover will have split seams and discoloration with possible ink markings or tape on spine.
Very Good/VG+-will have evidence of being played and otherwise handled by a previous owner. Surface may reveal light markings or what is sometimes referred to as "hairlines" visible under light but not detracting from the listening experience.
The cover may also have some circular wear, in general the whole package should only have a few minor things wrong
Near Mint-nearly perfect condition
Mint (absolutely perfect)-For what it's worth, I will only give this grading to a record that is still sealed
CONDITION OF VINYL VG++.
CLEANING & GENERAL SYNOPSIS Let's be honest... the best way to clean your records is with a high-end record cleaning machine like the Nitty Gritty, etc. But these units are priced accordingly and seem to be reserved for high-volume retailers and consequently excluding the average vinyl enthusiast.
So for the rest of us - there are hand held record cleaning kits.
I happen to believe that mine is the best one out there - I encourage you to click on my "about me" link at the bottom of this page where you will see that I am always listing the AslanStore Record & Stylus Cleaner.
Some things are relative. For this reason I rely on a conservative method of grading. What sounds flawless to some folks may be heard as surface noisy to others. Some people like the ambiance and nostalgia of snap, crackle and pops when listening to a record and others demand "CD quality" out of their records. So for the most part I state that the "record may reveal some surface noise, but plays through with absolutely no skips, jumps or scratches - or I won't list it!"
